Sublative Skin Rejuvenation with eMatrix Skin Resurfacing
Sublative Rejuvenation with eMatrix is a unique procedure which uses radio frequency to deliver an effective but controlled ablative and non-ablative fractional treatment for wrinkles, scars, large pores and better texture of the skin.
Similar to “Fraxel", it uses radiofreqeuency (electrical) energy, as opposed to laser. Each pulse delivers the radio frequency energy via a grid of matrix spots, inducing a skin injury which is maximized in these tiny, targeted areas.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
The Sublative Skin Rejuvenation treatment is suitable for someone who is looking to reduce fine wrinkles, and their skin textural problems such as light acne scars or enlarged pores.
You should avoid having Sublative Rejuvenation if you are pregnant or have been on Accutane within the past 6 months.
In addition, patients with pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or metal implants in the area of concern should not have these treatments. Patients who have diabetes, autoimmune disease, history of cold sores or have had injectable fillers in the area to be treated should let us know prior to having Sublative Rejuvenation.
What should I expect during and after the treatment?
The treatment can be done with or without a topical numbing cream which is applied on the skin for approximately 30 minutes. The cream is then removed and treatment begins.
During the treatment, you may feel mild discomfort with a tingling sensation and warmth. This sensation will subside over about 2 hours. After the treatment, there will be mild redness which will improve over the next 2 to 3 days. You are strongly encouraged to avoid sun exposure and to use a good strength sun screen.
What are the risks and side effects from Sublative Resurfacing/eMatrix treatments?
The procedure is minimally uncomfortable, although this is minimized by the topical anesthetic that is applied on the skin prior to the treatment for 30 minutes.
Expected side effects are redness and swelling after the procedure that lasts from hours to days, and occasionally even up to a week or beyond (very unusual).
Any resurfacing procedure can result in a scar or infection, although this is exceedingly rare. We have not experienced any darkening or lightening of the skin as a result of eMatrix, although theoretically this is possible.
Prior to treatment all potential risks and side effects will be discussed with you by your medical provider and cosmetic coordinator.
How many sessions are required?
Our patients gradually sees a difference after a single treatment, but optimal results are seen after 3 to 6 treatments, which can be done 3 to 4 weeks apart.
