Allergan MD Codes™ is an innovative methodology that has transformed the way cosmetic injectables, such as Juvederm and Botox, are used in aesthetic medicine, providing patients with a more holistic approach to anti-aging. MD Codes™ is an advanced filler injection technique which addresses some of the main concerns patients have with ageing. This includes skin laxity, apparent sagging, volume loss, as well as lack of structure and contour. As we age, these factors become more prominent, which can make us look tired and aged.
We can thank an extremely talented Brazilian plastic surgeon Dr. Mauricio de Maio for helping us move away from tunnel vision to seeing the bigger picture. Several years ago he developed his 8-Point Lift injection technique. It involved placing dermal filler in eight strategic points around the face to lift sagging skin and restore facial volume.
The 8-Point Lift was based on his astute observation that as we age the structural trifecta of a youthful face – bone, fat and collagen – decline dramatically, resulting in wrinkles, sagging and sunken appearance. Simply filling in the nasolabial folds didn’t make the face look more attractive or rejuvenated. In fact, treating one small area without respecting the subtleties of facial balance and proportion produced an unflattering ‘puffy face’ that turned many people off fillers.

Products
The products that we use are the VYCROSS® Collection which are manufactured using Allergan’s VYCROSS® technology – cross-linking the hyaluronic acid molecules to create a smooth, efficient filler that allows for a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid to be used. Many hyaluronic acid fillers use 100% high molecular weight, while the VYCROSS® Collection uses 10% high molecular weight HA with 90% low molecular weight HA, creating a smooth filler with smooth results. A smooth filler means that our patients are less likely to experience pain and swelling/after treatment, and results are long-lasting and natural.
Customisation
The assessment and delivery of the procedure is a bespoke treatment that depends on an individual’s features, aspirations and needs. It takes someone with extensive training and an artistic eye to propose, and deliver exceptionally beautiful yet natural looking results.
Each MD Code is designated by a letter, a number and a colour and goes with a recommended injection technique.
The letter corresponds to the initial of the anatomical zone in English, while the number refers to a point (sub-unit) within the anatomical zone. For the cheekbone, for example, there are 5 points designated by the MD Code CK, for the jawline there are also 5 points, identified with the letters JW, and the letter C is used for the 6 MD Codes on the chin.

How Many Sessions Will I Need, And How Far Apart Can I Have Them?
The hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers that we use at VIDASKIN provide longevity, without permanency. This enables you to stay in control of your looks, and if ever necessary, the results can be reversed, as hyaluronic acid is fully dissolvable, unlike other filler materials in the market.
On average, your dermal filler should last between 12-24 months, but this varies from patient to patient, depending on how quickly your immune system breaks the filler down. Two weeks after the treatment, you should notice the lasting effect of your fillers. Treatment is a maintenance programme, however, and you will need to have treatment at regular intervals for longer-lasting results.
Am I A Suitable Candidate For MD Codes Treatment?
There are few contraindications to having dermal filler treatment. While we advise that those who are pregnant or breastfeeding avoid treatment, there is no clinical data to prove that it is harmful to the mother or baby.
