It uses innovative laser technology to safely and effectively treat lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, scars, and redness.
The Cutera CoolGlide Difference
The Cutera® CoolGlide laser is a popular choice when it comes to hair removal. The Cutera® CoolGlide laser's method is unique because it uses intensely targeted low-level laser beams on a great number of follicles simultaneously.
The instrument itself is rather small and contains a cooling tip adjacent to the light ports. As it is gently applied to the affected area, the patient enjoys a cool sensation with no burning from the laser light. The targeted laser beam actually destroys the living follicle, making removal of the hair easy. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.
How Does Laser Genesis Work?
Cutera® Laser Genesis is a non-ablative, Nd:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) laser that has a wavelength of 1064nm. It works by gently heating the upper dermis well below the skin’s surface. The heat stimulates the body’s healing response, which then boosts collagen production.
Cutera® Laser Genesis also generates additional heat in dilated capillaries to reduce facial redness, commonly associated with rosacea. It can improve the overall appearance of your skin by safely and effectively treating this condition.
What Is Diffuse Redness?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness, not discrete, well-defined vessels. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and it can be hereditary. Cutera® Laser Genesis will help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.

What Does The Procedure Feel Like?
Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You can immediately return to normal activities, utilizing sunscreen if participating in outdoor activities.

When performed by a skilled professional, Laser Genesis by Cutera® is virtually risk-free. Few patients report side effects, but when they do it’s usually a slight redness that goes away a few hours after the session.

What Can I Expect Before The Treatment?
You will not need gel, anesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment. Before the actual treatment, we will perform a thorough cleansing for you, including the removal of make-up if necessary. Dr. Vicki will review and perform all pre-treatment requirements.
Is There Any Downtime?
Cutera® Laser Genesis can treat a range of skin concerns, without unwanted side effects like bruising or excessive skin irritation. Most patients experience mild redness after the treatment, but this is temporary and subsides within a few hours. There is no downtime and patients can immediately go back to their routines.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
In general, patients start seeing results after 3-6 treatments, spaced a month apart. When the results do take effect, patients report visible, dramatic improvements to their skin.
For optimal results, 6-10 treatments are typical. Following a series of treatments, Dr. Vicki will recommend a daily skin care regimen to keep your skin looking radiant and prolong the results you achieved with Cutera® Laser Genesis.
How Long Do The Results Last?
This varies from patient to patient, but the average period is between 6 to 12 months. The way you care for and protect your skin (especially from the sun) can also affect the longevity of results. Here are a few things that can help maintain or extend the results of your Cutera® Laser Genesis treatment:
- Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (SPF 50) and limit your sun exposure.
- Stop smoking or never start in the first place.
- Avoid excessive alcohol drinking (this can dehydrate the skin and cause facial redness).
- Eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly.
- Get adequate sleep every night (7 to 9 hours).
- Follow a good skin care regimen or the one recommended by Dr.Vicki
- Schedule follow-up or maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months.
How Does Cutera® Laser Genesis For Acne Work ?
This 1064nm laser uses controlled heat to kill acne-causing bacteria while simultaneously treating redness and early scars caused by acne on the skin. It is usually used on the face and neck. In addition, it helps to shrink skin pores on the cheeks, chin, nose, chin and forehead, as well as smoothen fine lines, and rough skin, and reduce skin reducing a symptom common to acne.
This treatment is an effective and long-term solution to acne by treating the overactive sebaceous glands that when producing too much oil, clog up the skin pores.
